Prepare a contract in ChatGPT or Claude.
Start with your PDF, agreement text or an approved template. Prepare work for review, correct the details and pick up saved work after an interruption. Open the actual document in ShareSign before you send it for e-signature.
Assistant access is included on Free, Pro and Business, within existing resource limits and with no trial expiry. Template preparation follows your plan. The public ShareSign connector works with Claude Free. The optional workflow plugin follows Claude’s own plan requirements; ChatGPT availability depends on your account and organisation.
Already have your agreement?
For text you have prepared in chat, paste the agreement text in ShareSign, add the signers and review the PDF and fields before accepting an unsent draft. For an existing PDF, upload it for signing. Check the intended business before adding either source. Direct preparation uses your ShareSign role and plan, including Free’s signing allowances, without giving the assistant extra permissions. If you already have a saved ShareSign draft, open that draft instead of uploading another copy. Each person signs for themselves.
Optional template example
Check your material and access for this task. Choose the business, review what is missing and return with the same preparation question.
- What you need
- Your PDF, agreement text or an approved ShareSign template, and the recipient's name, email and signing role. A template is optional. Text authoring needs separate approved access and must be offered by your assistant. If unavailable, paste the text yourself in ShareSign and review its PDF and fields before saving an unsent draft.
- Assistant draft access
- For assistant draft editing, approve “Read agreements and templates” and “Create and edit unsent agreement drafts”. Choose Prepare a PDF or template for your file. For agreement text, choose Prepare from text when offered, which also requires agreement-text authoring. Room search and viewer activity are not needed. Your ShareSign role must also allow the action; an existing connection with both permissions needs no new approval.
- What you get
- A reviewable text proposal or a saved unsent draft, its ShareSign link and any readiness issues. Accept a text proposal in ShareSign before it becomes an agreement draft. Review the PDF, recipient addresses and fields before sending.
- Who sends and signs
- You choose Send in ShareSign. Each signer reviews and signs through their own signing journey. Preparation in either assistant leaves the agreement unsent.
New to ShareSign? Choose a first task after signing in, or browse the template library. Free includes assistant access, signing and rooms within its resource limits. Premium features keep their plan requirements. Compare plans.
A worked example: prepare an NDA
Jamie Morgan and jamie@example.com are fictional. Replace them with your intended recipient, and choose your own approved template.
This example uses a saved template and requires template access. For a PDF or agreement text, choose your starting material instead.
Continue in ChatGPT
Open ShareSign in ChatGPT (opens in a new tab)Keep this page open. On the public plugin page, install and connect ShareSign if needed, or choose Try in chat. Sign in and deliberately choose the intended business and permissions. Paste the copied task into a fresh conversation with ShareSign enabled, and confirm its connected business before continuing.
Continue in Claude
Opens in a new tab. Keep this page open so you can return to your question and preparation checks.
- In Claude, open Add files, connectors, and more, choose Connectors, then select ShareSign.
- If ShareSign is missing or asks you to connect, use its public connector page (opens in a new tab) to connect and sign in. Keep an existing working connection, and choose the business and permissions only when asked.
- Paste the copied question and send it when ready. Confirm the connected business and access before continuing, then check the answer or saved draft in ShareSign.
01
Confirm the connected business
Connect ShareSign in your assistant, use an existing working connection when available, and confirm which business and permissions are active. Switching workspaces in ShareSign does not switch your assistant's connection.
Set up the connection02
Choose the actual template
If several templates match, choose one. Supply missing recipient roles or required values. Ask your assistant to leave unknown terms for your review rather than invent them.
03
Inspect the saved result
Check the saved draft link and readiness issues. A chat reply describing a draft is not evidence that it was saved. If the result is uncertain, recover the existing preparation before trying again.
04
Review in ShareSign
Open the draft, check the PDF, addresses, signing order and fields, then decide whether to send. Preparing or correcting the draft leaves it unsent.
Correct the details without starting again
Use the same saved draft. A recipient-name correction should preserve its email, existing fields and document identity.
Check the returned link still points to the intended draft. This example corrects recipient details; it does not rewrite the template PDF text. If a colleague changed the draft meanwhile, inspect the current version and compare before saving another correction.
When something needs attention
- No suitable template
- A template is optional. Paste your agreement text or upload your PDF in ShareSign, then review the signers and fields. A PDF attached to a chat is not automatically uploaded to ShareSign.
- Only read access
- You can inspect permitted records. To prepare a draft in ChatGPT or Claude, use that assistant’s ShareSign reconnect control and deliberately approve Read agreements and templates and Create and edit unsent agreement drafts. Alternatively, paste agreement text in ShareSign or upload your PDF directly in ShareSign using your current signing access. An existing connection keeps its permissions until you reconnect and approve different ones.
- Interrupted or repeated request
- Ask for the saved preparation and check the current draft before creating a replacement. Recover saved work.
- Already sent, deleted or in another business
- An existing draft must still be editable and accessible. Follow the returned recovery guidance in ShareSign; do not recreate or move a document automatically.
