Find contract clauses in your data room, with citations.
Ask ChatGPT or Claude a specific question across the documents you permit it to search. Follow document and page citations, check competing provisions and see what still needs a human review.
The published ChatGPT and Claude plugins support cited document research. Assistant access is included on ShareSign Free within its existing resource limits. You need a compatible assistant account and the permissions you approve.
An investor question, answered from your documents
Use either assistant to answer investor questions from your room. The assistant receives room and file details and matching excerpts under your approved access. Research leaves your files unchanged; sharing with investors is a separate step.
Choose ChatGPT or Claude
ChatGPT
Add ShareSign to ChatGPT (opens in a new tab)Open the public ShareSign plugin and choose Install plugin, then Connect ShareSign. If it is already installed, choose Try in chat. Your ChatGPT account and organisation must allow the plugin.
Claude
Add ShareSign to Claude (opens in a new tab)Open the public ShareSign connector. Choose Connect or Install when offered. If ShareSign is already connected, keep that connection and use it in your conversation. The connector is available on Claude Free; your organisation may restrict access.
- Keep this guide open. In your chosen assistant, connect ShareSign and deliberately choose the business. Approve Browse data room files and document-text search; draft editing and viewer activity are not needed for this question.
- Copy the question, start a fresh conversation with ShareSign enabled and paste it yourself. Confirm the connected business and select the intended room before research.
- Check document and page citations where available, any amendments and the files excluded from the search. No match does not establish that a clause is absent. Review the answer before sharing it with an investor.
These are keyword searches, not a guarantee of complete diligence. Assistants cannot create or publish a room through this workflow. No files yet? Prepare a private room outline first. Save and review it in ShareSign before confirming room creation. This native step includes Free; assistant research uses your existing plan limits and needs searchable files. Read setup and recovery instructions for both assistants.
Ask a question you can check
Check rooms and access for this task. Choose the business and review the room material before returning to your assistant with your question.
- A useful starting question
- Which customer contracts require renewal notice, and how much? Keep each agreement's notice period, deadline conditions and source version separate.
- Minimum access
- Approve browsing room files and document-text search for the business you intend to research. Matching excerpts are sent to your chosen assistant. Draft editing and individual viewer activity are not needed.
- Your starting material
- A ShareSign room containing documents with searchable text. An empty room, a scanned image or a file awaiting processing may have no searchable evidence.
- A verifiable result
- An answer tied to document and page citations, with coverage gaps and conflicting evidence identified. Open the sources before acting on a deadline or legal obligation.
No material ready to search? Plan folders and a checklist before uploading, or read how to set up a data room. Adding an assistant does not publish files or invite guests.
Research the evidence, then check the answer
Use this question in ChatGPT
Keep this guide open, copy the research prompt and open ShareSign in ChatGPT (opens in a new tab). Install and connect if needed, or choose Try in chat. Confirm your business and room-search permissions, then paste the copied question into a fresh conversation with ShareSign enabled.
Use this question in Claude
Opens in a new tab. Keep this page open so you can return to your question and preparation checks.
- In Claude, open Add files, connectors, and more, choose Connectors, then select ShareSign.
- If ShareSign is missing or asks you to connect, use its public connector page (opens in a new tab) to connect and sign in. Keep an existing working connection, and choose the business and permissions only when asked.
- Paste the copied question and send it when ready. Confirm the connected business and access before continuing, then check the answer or saved draft in ShareSign.
01
Confirm business and room
Check which business your assistant is connected to and identify the intended room. If names are similar, choose the actual room before searching.
Check setup and permissions02
Ask about a specific clause
State the question, contracts and period you care about. Ask for citations and a list of anything unavailable, incomplete or unverified.
03
Open the cited pages
Read the surrounding clause and check the current agreement and amendments. A search excerpt alone may omit a condition or an exception.
04
Choose the next action
Record the verified finding or prepare an unsent agreement from your agreement text, PDF or a template you choose. Sending a notice or sharing the room remains your deliberate action in ShareSign.
Prepare an agreement for review
What a careful answer looks like
Illustrative example only. These fictional clauses are not results retrieved from your workspace.
- Northbridge services agreement, page 4
- Renewal requires 30 days' written notice. Check the renewal date and whether a later amendment changes this requirement.
- Northbridge amendment, page 2
- A later amendment states 60 days for termination for convenience. That is a different trigger from renewal; do not collapse both findings into one notice period.
- A scanned contract without searchable text
- No verified finding. Open the source in ShareSign and review it directly. No matching excerpt does not prove the agreement has no notice clause.
- A partial result
- Keep unresolved files visible. A table covering two searchable contracts is not an answer about every agreement in the room.
Recover without widening access
- A research permission is missing
- Check the connected business and whether room-file browsing and document-text search are approved. If the needed permission is offered, use your assistant’s existing reconnect control and approve it deliberately. If the permission is not offered, reconnecting repeatedly will not add it. Review your room and access in ShareSign and continue with your existing access.
- The connection has expired
- Use your assistant’s existing reconnect control to sign in again. Keep the intended business and approved permissions, then retry the access check. A missing permission alone does not mean your sign-in expired. Read connection recovery guidance.
- A file changed or disappeared
- Check the current source link and version before relying on an earlier answer. Access revoked later stops future retrieval; it does not erase information already received by your assistant.
- No results or too many matches
- Narrow the question or choose a specific room or document. Check which files were actually searched before concluding a clause is absent.
- Plan or role does not permit the task
- Use ShareSign directly with your existing access, or review plan options. Installing the plugin does not upgrade your plan or grant a new role.
