Effective 19 September 2026 · version 2026-09-19
Terms of service
What you agree to when you use ShareSign.
These terms are a contract between you and ShareSign, Inc., 169 Madison Ave STE 15132, New York, NY 10016, USA ("ShareSign", "we"). They apply from 19 September 2026. If you use ShareSign for an organisation, you confirm you can bind it to these terms.
1. The service
ShareSign lets you send documents for electronic signature, sign documents sent to you, and keep records of what happened. We provide the service as described on our site and in the product. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a capability you rely on without reasonable notice unless required by law or security.
2. Your account
You must give accurate details and keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account and in workspaces you own. Tell us through the support form if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Your content
Documents, names, signatures, and messages you put into ShareSign are yours. You grant us only the rights needed to provide the service: to store, process, transmit, and display your content to the people you choose. We do not use your content to train models, advertise, or for any purpose other than running the service and complying with law.
You are responsible for having the right to send a document to the people you send it to, and for the legality of what it contains.
4. Signatures and records
ShareSign records who signed, when, from which network address and device, and the cryptographic hash of every file. These records are part of the service and cannot be edited by anyone, including us. The legal effect of an electronic signature depends on the law that applies to your agreement; ShareSign provides simple electronic signatures under eIDAS and electronic signatures under ESIGN and UETA, and does not provide legal advice.
Signers are not required to hold a ShareSign account. Signing a document through ShareSign means agreeing that an electronic signature has the same effect as a handwritten one for that document.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use ShareSign to send unlawful, deceptive, or infringing content, to impersonate anyone, to harass, or to interfere with the service or other users. Do not attempt to access data that is not yours. We may suspend accounts that break these rules and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
6. Plans, payment, and cancellation
Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Prices are shown before you pay and may differ by country. You can cancel at any time; the plan stays active until the end of the period already paid for. A yearly plan can be refunded in full within 14 days of the payment, once per workspace, from billing settings; after that, refunds are given where the law requires and otherwise at our discretion. We email the workspace owner at least 30 days before a yearly plan renews. The longer you stay, the less you pay. A paid plan, monthly or yearly, is charged at 5% off the list price from its fourth month of unbroken subscription, 10% off from its thirteenth and 15% off from its twenty-fifth. Months are counted per workspace from the start of the current unbroken run to the start of the period being paid for. Changing plan, interval or seats, and a failed payment recovered inside our retry period, do not break the run. When a subscription stops, the run is held for 30 days: a new subscription inside them carries on where it stopped, and the days away do not count; after them it starts again at the list price. A refunded period does not count towards the run. The discount applies to founding prices too, and not to document credits. A workspace keeps the ladder it subscribed under; we may improve it, and will not make it worse for an existing subscription while that subscription continues. Workspaces that took a founding place keep their yearly Pro price, per person, for as long as the subscription continues, and receive everything later added to the Pro plan at that price. A failed payment inside our retry period is not a break; after a cancellation the place is held for 30 days and is lost if the subscription has not resumed by then. A refunded founding payment returns the place. The locked price applies in the currency it was bought in. Features sold only on Business, and any per-use service with outside costs, are priced the same for everyone. We may end the founding offer for new customers at any time without affecting existing places.
Document credits. On plans with a monthly document allowance you may buy credits; one credit sends one document once the allowance is used. Credits do not expire, belong to the workspace, are not refunded once the document has been sent, and are forfeited when the workspace is deleted. A refunded or reversed credit purchase removes the credits it paid for, and sending is suspended while the balance is below zero. We may limit the number of credits bought per day.
Unlimited documents. Unlimited means your own business sending its own documents, with no cap. Reselling the service, sending on behalf of other companies, or several unrelated businesses sharing one workspace is not covered; agencies use one workspace per client. Our guide figure is 500 documents a workspace a month on Business and 200 a seat on Pro. Above it we contact you and offer a volume price. We never block, slow down, or delete anything mid-month. A seat is a person who sends; signers and copy recipients are never seats. If payment fails, we give a grace period before the workspace returns to the free plan; documents are never deleted because of a failed payment.
7. Deleting data
You can export and delete your data from settings. When you delete a workspace or your account, files are removed from storage promptly and records are anonymised. Signed documents already delivered to other parties remain with them. Records we must keep by law are kept only for as long as required.
8. Availability and support
We aim for the service to be available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Current status and past incidents are published at status.sharesign.co. We reply to support requests within 24 hours on Business plans and within 48 hours on other plans; the support page explains how to reach us.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, ShareSign is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability in any twelve months is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. Nothing limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else the law does not allow to be limited.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will show you the new version and ask you to accept it the next time you sign in. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance. Old versions are available on request.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Delaware, USA, and disputes go to its courts, without affecting consumer rights that apply where you live.
